Wild Strawberry

Wild Strawberry

Beautiful socks with botanically accurate strawberry plants. Next best thing after the real wild strawberries! Complements Wild Strawberry mitts.

I charted three different options for each leg and foot (with and w/o a flower); you can mix and match. Please pay attention to the foot chart size; there are two sizes! The width is the same - 66 sts around, but can easily be increased (or decreased) by adding/deleting a pinstripe on the side of the patterned panel.

The pdf has CHARTS WITHOUT WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS, and won’t be suitable for knitters not familiar with sock knitting. You are expected to know how to knit plain  heels (any method will do).

Materials: you will need 2mm circular needles, and 100-150g. of fingering-weight sock yarn total for most sizes; or about 50-75 g of each main and contrasting color (shown black and green). The prototype pair on the photo is knit using the smallest charts (I also had to cut 4sts of width around because my gauge was too relaxed), and measure 14cm tall in leg, 19cm long foot, and 10 cm across.

You will also need tapestry needle and some yarn for embroidery. If you choose white color for the background, use light blue or gray for the flower petals.

Gauge: approximately 35 X 35 in 10 cm.
