Hyacinth
Seamless shawl of modular construction. Everything is connected as you go. No stranding; only one color used per row. The prototype is also available (there's only one!).
Skills required: knitting in the round (magic loop), decreases/increases, ability to read charts (the top center part in charted-only).
Materials: 3.5mm needles with shorter wire for the motifs; 3.5 - 4.0mm needles with longer wire for top and bottom of the shawl.
Yarn. Heavy fingering weight (320-350m/100g): 200g of MC (shown purple), and 100g of CC (shown white). I used gradient yarn for MC in the prototype; it creates a patchy look in the modular section. To avoid that, use solid yarn for MC. I think different color flowers on solid background would look better. Flowers take very little of CC; you can use small scraps for them.
Notions: stitch marker and tapestry needle.
Gauge: 22 stitches and 28 rows = 10 cm, in garter. Hexagonal motif is 12 cm across, measured diagonally.
Size: half a circle, 65 cm drop, 1.6m wingspan.
